The previews for it were grand, and I expected it to be everything that Skyrim wasn't, and more! I was all ready to give my first 100/100 game review! I spent some time juggling whether to buy the game on PC or PS4. This is a game that I eagerly anticipated. It's a story of my first few days with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The branching, multi-threaded plot is significantly undercut by the openness of the world and the apparent lack of consequence for failure to progress. The soundtrack is pretty awesome.Ī huge, gritty, and believable world with varied and satisfying side quests, complex characters, and genuine consequences. Strong voice-acting (at most times) makes characters compelling and sympathetic, and consistent (but exaggerated) regional accents helps to build the world. Combat mechanics are deep and provide plenty of options for the player, but you'll have to overcome fidgety movement, sluggish attacks, unreliable target lock, and an erratic camera.Ī vivid, lush, organically-detailed world with excellent lighting, weather effects, stellar character models, and great thematic visual cues is blemished slightly by the re-use of peasant models and the occasional pop-in of textures and whole characters.
